2014 Fleet Rendezvous

The Chesapeake Alerion Fleet held its tenth annual rendezvous at Herrington Harbour North on Saturday, June 14. Alerions from  Annapolis and  Herring Bay met at buoy 83 west of Poplar Island for a round the buoys race to Herring Bay.

Racing conditions were ideal -- 15-20 knot winds with gusts to 25 knots and clear blue skies. Marti Detweiler and Jon Sauer on Skimmer took the lead at the start and held the lead for a convincing victory.  Jason Goscha, Stacey Anderson and their son Finley on Halcyon nosed out Bob Spann's Resilient for second place after a long neck and neck battle.   Also racing were Bob and Deirdre Bradway on Starry Night and David and Kate Gantz on Orion.

Several other Alerion owners including Elizabeth Whiteley, Jim and Renee Kizziar, Jim and Marcia Luke, and Jack Detweiler joined the racers for the social hour at Herrington Harbour North followed by dinner at a nearby restaurant. It was far too windy for any photos on the water; enjoy photos of the social hour. The camera was put away early to enjoy the good company of the Chesapeake Alerion fleet.
